RSS enables users to access website updates in a standard format, usually, this consists of a title, a summary, a publication date and a link to the page. Here we take a closer look at RSS feeds and discuss why they are still important today. At the height of its popularity, thousands of websites syndicated their content and many millions of people subscribed. Though not as popular now as it once was, people can subscribe to various RSS feeds which, when the email is opened, present a list of summarised web content. In fact, it does have a use, and that’s to receive syndicated content from websites in the form of emails. For many people, RSS is that obscure folder that appears to have no use in their email inbox.
